Use of electronic products continues to grow and the library patron online is the most enigmatic of our customers. We often do not know whether or not they have found what they were looking for. Using free and premium tools for data collection, we can develop a greater understanding of our virtual customers and web site traffic patterns to prioritize and create websites and services that resonate. We will take a close look at the information-seeking trends and narratives to be found in library usage data.

Instructor Bio ~ Cheryl Wolfe
Cheryl Wolfe is a Principal Librarian for the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library in Tampa, Florida. She administers the library’s web services, including the library website, public catalog, proxy server and staff intranet. She also provides web product support and manages tech projects. As a designer and developer, Cheryl believes in making small, iterative changes to continuously improve the library website user experience.

Brian Walton is a Principal Librarian for the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library in Tampa, Florida. He is responsible for reference and electronic materials selection, including research databases, online learning hubs, and eBooks and periodicals, as well as the library’s print reference and serials collections. Brian believes that you can’t possibly know enough about your users’ behavior, and that if you want them to use something, you have to put it where they’ll find it.
