Library Services for Patrons Who Are Blind or Low Vision

February 20 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am EST

Public Services

Making the library inclusive for all requires an understanding of the best ways to serve patrons who are blind or have low vision. This session will offer concrete advice for ensuring that library spaces are welcoming for those who are blind or have low vision, provide tips on how to train staff, and make your digital content accessible. In addition, you’ll learn how to make your collections and programs inclusive for all patrons. You’ll leave with concrete and cost-effective advice for making improvements at your library.

After this session, participants will:
• Understand customer service best practice for serving patrons who are blind or low vision
• Identify and solve potential barriers in library spaces and at service points
• Evaluate digital material accessibility
