The Year of Chill: Focusing on Our Own Wellbeing, and Taking Care of Everyone by Taking Care of Ourselves

May 2 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

Personal Development

This presentation will explore taking charge of ourselves, both personally and professionally by focusing on our own reactions, emotions, and framing to change difficult and sometimes hostile circumstances.
For many of us, it has been a rough couple of years, and it’s critical to take time to focus on our own wellbeing.

Many things happen that we have no control over, but we have absolute control over our own reactions to them.

As a result of this program, attendees will learn:
• How to use gratitude daily to overcome feelings of fear and resentment both personally and professionally.
• Incorporating the practice of empathetic framing when confronting issues, or perceived issues to maintain mental health and objectivity.
• Utilizing the practice of “chill” in the workplace to manage stress and burnout.
• How to bring these concepts together to increase personal and professional effectiveness.

Presenter: Lance Werner has served as Executive Director for Kent District Library since 2011. He received a juris doctorate degree from Michigan State University’s College of Law and his master’s degree in Library Science from Wayne State University (WSU).
