Gender and Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) are no longer just for the school environment. Library-facilitated GSAs are a unique opportunity to practice and promote radical inclusivity for LGBTQ+ youth in the public library.
This program will walk you through how to start a GSA at your public library. Learn some tips for success as a new GSA facilitator and adult ally, how to navigate potential challenges, and how to support the LGBTQ+ youth in your community.
As a result of this program, attendees will:
• Learn about the role of a library GSA facilitator and the steps you can take to create a successful GSA
• Discover resources to utilize for yourself and to share with your teens
• Learn about the needs of LGBTQ+ youth and the ways in which you can help
• Brainstorm ways to navigate challenges, administrative support, and community response
