The rate of adoption of emerging technologies in the public library space is challenging to predict. When and if to invest in a technology as it emerges is a critical question, and the answer may dramatically affect the future of your library.
In this three part series of Emerging Technologies in Libraries we will explore the new and exciting integration of traditional library roles and emerging technologies using examples from the mobile environment, maker/creator spaces, and massive open online opportunities. We will also discuss best practices and practical applications of these emerging technologies and how they may be adopted to meet the needs of your patrons.
In the first session in the series, Digital Delivery of Products and Services, we will explore the top trends in mobile platforms as well as the availability and creation of mobile apps for libraries.
Yes, you can develop an app with minimal programming skills!
We will also learn about the growing popularity of streaming media and creative ways that libraries can market their digital products to patrons.
