Are you thinking of becoming a manager or have you recently been promoted to your first manager role? This can be an exciting and also anxiety-filled time with lots of questions to consider.

Join experienced library administrator Liz Breed for 60 minutes of coaching that will address shifting your mindset from doer (you) to conductor (of a team). She’ll address the top 5 common misconceptions about being a manager and discuss useful strategic tools and tactics such as building rapport, managing up, adopting a growth mindset, building trust, and transparent communication.

Attendees will learn how to:
● Shift their mindset from doer to conductor
● Manage the top 5 manager misconceptions
● Build skills with strategic tools and tactics to improve confidence and effectiveness

Presenter: Liz Breed serves as the Assistant Director at Jackson District Library. In her 8 years in marketing research and 20 years in libraries she has developed operations management, project management, marketing, coaching, and training skills. She recently earned her MicroMasters in Instructional Design and Technology. Over half of Liz’s library career has been spent in middle management or Administration. Her experiences have fueled her passion to support and mentor managers, especially first time managers, with tools to grow their confidence and comfort, and create more effective work environments for all.
