Libraries are more important than ever as content is adapting to a new connected landscape, services are pivoting to meet demands of evolving technological patrons, the mobile revolution is being realized, social is everything, the smart phone is shifting to the smart watch, and librarians are creating new approaches to our age old mission. In this session, Joe Murphy explores the major change pressures and opportunity areas as he trend watches for the library industry.
Joe Murphy ~ Biography
Joe Murphy, librarian, is Director, Library Futures at Innovative Interfaces. Joe Murphy has served libraries as a technology directions and library future consultant, and is a current Ph.D. student with the San Jose State University/Queensland University of Technology Gateway Ph.D. Program studying innovation leadership. Joe worked as a Science Librarian at Yale University for ~5 years after earning a Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from the University of Hawaii in 2006. Joe gives talks and works with libraries around the world on topics of library directions, technology analysis, and growth opportunities.
