Instructor Bio ~ Al Carlson
Al Carlson began as a simple public service Librarian.  But he was lured over to the Dark Side (i.e. Automation) in the early 1980’s, when his library in California bought the Wang OIS system. (Which is now extinct.)  That first step led to PC’s, then library automation systems, then e-reading, and now mobile devices. Al feels that Douglas Adams was generally correct when he said:

“Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”

However, he feels that with a little help, we can all be between 15 and 35 forever.
