As a self-care practice, setting boundaries in the library workplace is necessary for work-life balance and resisting re-traumatization when we allow others to overstep our professional boundaries.

• Ability to recognize when other people infringe upon your boundaries
• Plan for strengthening and reinforcing the boundaries you set with yourself and with others
Presenter: Rebecca Tolley is the interim director of research and instruction services at East Tennessee State University’s Sherrod Library where she also coordinates the research consultation service. She speaks and publishes on topics such as organizational culture, customer service, and cultivating empathy in library workers. Her book A Trauma-Informed Approach to Library Services was published by ALA Editions 2020.
