There are all sorts of reasons a library position might become vacant, whether planned or unexpected. What have you done to ensure a smooth transition? Can someone step into your role and cover at least the basics until you come back?

We’ll discuss many methods, approaches, and practical techniques everyone should put into place now to ensure seamless transitions to the benefit of your coworkers, staff and most importantly, your customers!

Anne has worked in a wide variety of libraries and library-related organizations during her career. She is currently the owner of Library Discount Network, a business that negotiates with database vendors on behalf of library consortia and networks. The company also provides administrative and management support for nonprofit organizations.

Instructor Bio ~ Denise Vladdingham
Denise Vladdingham entered the academic realm a few years ago after working primarily with children in the public library setting for nearly a decade. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Northern Kentucky University and her Master’s in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. She’s been an active member of the American Library Association ever since she was named an Emerging Leader in 2005. She’s served on several committees including the Sibert Award Selection, Early Childhood Programs and Services and served as co-chair of the Great Web Sites for Kids committee.
