Presenter: Kristina A. Holzweiss is a high school edtech librarian on Long Island, New York who previously taught middle school English and library information literacy. She has been an award-winning educator since 1995. Kristina was named the School Library Journal Librarian of the Year, a National School Board “20 to Watch” emerging education technology leader, and a Library Journal Mover & Shaker. She is also the winner of the NYSCATE Lee Bryant Outstanding Teacher Award and the Long Island Technology Summit Fred Podolski Leadership and Innovation Award. One of her proudest moments has been being nominated for Barnes & Noble’s My Favorite Teacher award by one of her students.

In 2015 Kristina founded SLIME – Students of Long Island Maker Expo (slimemakerexpo.com) where schools, libraries, museums, nonprofit organizations, civic associations, and educational companies can celebrate creativity and innovation. She is the author of two series of makerspace books published by Scholastic and transportation books (My First Book of Trains and My First Book of Airplanes) published by Rockridge Press. She is also the co-author of Hacking School Libraries and the creator of The School Library Planner. She is proud to be included in the 2023 Princesses with Power Tools calendar. Kristina is Makey Makey and Raspberry Pi certified.

Kristina is an international speaker on libraries, technology, and making and has presented at conferences including ISTE, AASL, ALA, and NYSCATE. She has worked with educators and their students from as far as Spain and Hong Kong. In 2016 she was invited to represent Long Island, NY in Washington, D.C. during the National Week of Making.
